OUR HISTORY

Christ Central was founded in Lake City, Florida in April of 1998. The founding Pastor is Pastor Lonnie Johns. Christ Central Ministries is a non-denominational ministry with a vision of reaching the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The first seven years have been very productive and God has begun a great work. The core group begin meeting in other church buildings and then at the Richardson Middle School. In December of 2000 a 20,000 sq. ft. sanctuary was built on 12 acres purchased by the church. An additional 30 acres was purchased in 2001 and a 13,400 sq. ft. youth auditorium and gym was built in 2003. There are currently over 747 active members at the church. The church has been very active in outreach to the community and missions in general. Every year there is the Back to School Bash in which hundreds of children receive free school supplies. The Fall Festival is a Halloween alternative put on each year by the church in which thousands of local children come to receive candy and entertainment. The children’s and youth ministry are high priorities and reach many in the community. The church is active in supporting local benevolent ministries and caring for the needy in the community. The church has developed an Assisted Living Facility (Still Waters) to care for the elderly and has long range plans of developing a retirement community. The church is active in World Missions and has established missionary works in the Philippines, Honduras, Africa and India. These include numerous churches, orphanages and missionary stations. We have also developed an organization called Partners of Hope to network churches and other missionary organizations together. The church has also launched several “Daughter Churches” to carry the vision to other cities and states. There are now Christ Central Ministries in Live Oak, Alachua and Lake Butler, Florida. There is also a Christ Central church in Dallas, Georgia which is a suburb of Atlanta. All of these churches are involved in the missions program, national church planting program and local outreaches patterned after the founding church.

The Live Oak Church was started in August of 2003. Pastor Wayne Godsmark was the associate pastor in Lake City and was in charge of the cell group ministry. There was a group of people driving from the Live Oak area and they desired to see a church with the same vision and heart in Live Oak. Pastor Wayne and Worship Pastor Trevor Blanton founded the church in Live Oak with a core group of 40 people. The church converted the old kidney dialysis center in the Suwannee Mall into an active ministry center. The church currently has 130 members and is experiencing great growth. Like its mother church it is a church on the move, a church making a difference, reaching out to the lost in Suwannee County. The church has a full program of ministries that include powerful preaching, dynamic worship and children and youth ministries. The church also has a food pantry and a drug and alcohol support group called “Greater Vision”. The church is outreach oriented and does several major outreaches during the year as well as monthly ministries we are involved in. "In March of 2009 the church took possession of it's own property. We purchased seven acres that had already been a church and renovated it providing us a new place of worship. The property has a sanctuary, fellowship hall, kitchen, youth and children building and an office complex. We are excited about this permanent facility and the oppurtunity for growth
that it provides for us.

Christ Central is an exciting, growing, progressive “Church on the move”. A church that is making a difference. A church where Jesus is Lord and Christ is central to all we do. Christ Central is a church where God’s love is not only taught, but demonstrated. It is a place where everyone is loved and accepted. God has done a tremendous work at Christ Central and we give him all the glory. We are also very excited and full of faith anticipating what God is going to do in the future. If you live in the area and do not have a home church, please come by for a visit.
